The 'x's mark where I would stand. In broken water like this you can get quite close to the trout.
The highlighted areas are where I would cast into and are the most likely to hold fish. For this picture I have only highlighted the really likely spots, the tail end of those small pools could well hold some small fish as well.
There is a fisherman in the photo fishing pretty poorly. Casting across into a complex fast flowing pool. His fly would be dragging and not fishing.
Spinning would be almost exactly the same but you could get away with not standing in the water as drag is not an issue.
