>>2320272>So is it better to just sow the next round of seeds outside? It's dependent on several factors. What zone do you live in? Another way to ask this question is, how long is your growing season? Because the lower the zone, the shorter the amount of time you have to grow it, and vice-versa.
It also depends on the crop itself, but I think tomatoes are definitely one that benefit from being sowed directly outside, if time and temperatures permit. I grew Brandywine last year, sowed directly into the ground, and from three (was supposed to be four) tiny little sprouts grew fucking enormous practically mini-tree sized plants, which produced for months. It's a good thing only 3 survived, cause 4 would definitely have overcrowded to an unmanageable degree.
Pic related. If you choose to do this, though, just be aware of cutworms fucking your shit up prematurely.
>If they sprout up in the sunlight they'll already be "hardened" up?Yes, for the most part. Just note that if you're summer sowing when it's the hottest, more water is an absolute necessity, because they'll be thirsty as hell and need as much as they can get as the sun evaporates it all, and they use it all to cool themselves while growing. They might also benefit from a temporary shade cloth during the hottest hours too. Just until they're larger and more mature.
