The anon who put an onion in a pot 4 months ago here. Onion is having some flower blooms grow nicely. Couple of weeks and I will be able to get some seeds from the publix onion.
The onion had red skin, so I'm not sure what race it is. How long do seeds last? I don't want my seeds to go bad if I keep them for next year. Also can I replant the seeds by the end of the month, or will winter set in before they get big and strong?
I'm in North Florida if that helps with the last question.
Sorry about the long question. I felt bad for the onion when nobody was eating it after Christmas and planted it so it wouldn't die alone on a counter without a chance to live or grow into something of worth like me.
I'm really enjoying this planting thing and I remembered from High School my history teacher expressed something positive about a particular plant being hardy and easy to grow and solving a number of famines a long time ago, so I reread my notes and found out it was Sweet Potatos.
If I were to acquire a Sweet Potato from the supermarket, would repeating my Onion process be feasible with this plant?
The process would start from a whole Sweet Potato being planted in a pot.
Will post pics of Onion in the morning.
