I mean they are non-native but not sure if they are considered "invaisive" as well and carry a penalty for transferring them to different bodies or water.
I mentioned the Oscars which are a popular aquarium fish, so those Mayans might be available to buy as well. That's probably how they ended up in the lakes and canals. They are pretty when the get bigger. Some have a bit more red and some are more yellow-orange. I wonder if they will have that color when raised in aquariums.
They are also called "atomic sunfish".
