my labrador was an absolute tick magnet (also chick magnet), whenever we went backpacking she would basically be some kind of buffer against the tick problem, I would never get ticks on me but I'd have to pull a few ticks out of her each day generally, got pretty good at removing ticks (a skill everyone should learn, the worst thing you can do is break the ticks head off)
The most satisfying thing was burning them with a lighter, sterilizing my tweezers and also roasting the insidious creatures
