>>2240870I have a jetboil and really like cooking. Most portable gas stoves simply lack surface and/or power to heat a relatively large amount of fresh food on a large surface. Basically neither sautéing or stews work with these small stoves. Bigger and heavier stoves like the Primus Easy Fuel work better, but still suck somewhat. Cook like you normally would, I like lentil curry (sautéed onions and garlic, spices of choice, dried tomatoe puree, dried lentils, water - - > serve with flatbread bread or tortillas and store bought fried onions.) when cooking with people. Also innawoods I hate lugging a lot of gas with me, so there's another problem.. When properly hiking I just stick to mostly cold food, ramen, and lots of coffee. The only exception is fresh fish (steam in a little pan) or sausages (cook normally in pan). You don't need much heat for that, and small stoves work well enough.
