>>405572>Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness. It's a completely legitimate socio-economic principle. 110% true. It gets even worse when you talk about financialization. If you have $10,000 in cash to drop on a car or some other capital cost, you spend $10,000 on it. But if you have to take out a loan, you will spend several times more than that sum. At this point the entire Western economy has been financialized because as purchasing power went down people started racking up debt with the same people who had reduced their purchasing power. It's getting to the point where people are seriously considering not getting a post-secondary education to free themselves from at least a fraction of the debt they have to live under. That makes the problem even worse because without that education you don't have the math skills to escape the culture of poverty that has people spending all their money on pointless crap like rims. You're even more vulnerable to predatory businesses that only crop up in the poor part of town like payday loansharks, rent-to-own furniture, pawn shops, and state-sponsored poverty traps like gambling and lotto.
