>>893639I know I'm 6 days late to this thread, but I wanted to give my experience with Arc'teryx. Never before have I seen a softshell jacket shed as much water, a guy in my unit wears one constantly. I myself just have a Condor Summit which I'm happy with, but when we compared the two I was shocked to see the difference in materials used and the quality of the seems and stitching. He also had a Gore-tex one, can't remember the name. We compared it to our issued Gore-tex layer, same thing.
Arc'teryx is a top of the line brand, and you can't go wrong with them. But I weighed the investment and found that I "didn't need it". Instead I just stuck with a variation of my issued kit in pic-related. Layers 1,2, and 5 is all I usually need when it get down to the 40's. At 30 I replace 2 with 3, any lower I use 1,2,3, and 5. Never needed 7, and 6 I always keep with me somewhere.
Obviously I wear the Condor Summit instead of my issued softshell, wearing your uniform is a big no-no, even while hiking.
