>>2157559It depends a little what plant you're talking about specifically. People tend to refer to blackberries and brambleberries as the same because they're related and the fruit is so similar. Blackberries grow as long straight canes and don't have thorns. Brambleberries grow more like creeping vines and arcs like black cap raspberries.
For brambles this,
>>2157593 works great. It's how they propagate naturally and you can let them run crazy. For blackberry canes they will root from arcing them to the ground but it both doesn't work as well I find and I prefer to let my canes reach for the sun.
The easiest way with them I find is either taking cuttings which will root super easy or divide a few canes in the fall which I prefer. They're pretty tenacious so once all the fruit is done and nights are getting cooler just separate a few first year canes with a spade and put them where you'd like. The bonus there is you'll still get fruit on them the next summer and they'll start spreading in their new home.
If your goal is tons of plants in 2-3 years then I'd go with cuttings and make a bunch now you can spread around late fall or early spring depending on your climate and have as many as you can dream of.
Pis is my main blackberry doing it's thing. The lower left is black caps though.
