>illuminationHeadlamp, flashlight. Don’t rely on your phone.
>insulationGround pad as insulation from the ground. Sleeping bag or quilt to insulate from the air. Fleece hoodie or jacket, extra layers, etc (depends on the weather)
>sun, wind, rain protectionIf you’re walking on roads, it’s going to be sunny, and over 10 days it’s likely to rain. Wind might not be that big of a deal.
That’s literally everything you should have in your pack. You can bring more to be comfortable or because you’re afraid of something or because you want to LARP, but necessities fit in these categories, and you’ll always have each category checked on a long trip. Exactly what you bring will change depending on the weather and location.
