Along side my blackberry rows I have maple logs inoculated with shiitake mushroom plug spawn. I've been neglecting to keep the place weeded properly and as a result I missed seeing the first flush. They weighed in at 6 pounds of shiitake mushrooms, but they were all too old to eat. That's like $36 in shiitake mushroom, if I bought them at the store.
I didn't even expect a flush this year since the logs were so young.
