Lots of configurations are possible with them. One kohte tarp works as a pretty good one person shelter. Take four of them and you get a pretty cool bigger tent that allows for fire building inside.
Add a shitload of them togeter plus some square tarps and you can even build something that resembles a mongolian yurt.
Maybe not the best for backpacking. But they seem awesome as a basecamp type of thing.
