Well lads I’m closing on the third on 20.8 acres in the hills in WV. Gonna be a while til I get a house on it but had some questions if any landowner anons visit this thread. I’m interested in silviculture and making sure my forest is peak healthy and comfy. First question is about a path. So my land has roughly 1000’ of stream on it and while most of the land is rugged and hilly, the stream cuts across a small area of it and along the stream to one of the flatter parts that the previous owner used for camping and shooting is a path so you don’t have to go up the main steep drive. The path is like right next to the stream. I’d like to rough this up and plant over it to give the stream a better riparian buffer but I’m wondering how hard it’d be to establish a new path along a sloped section. I don’t mind cutting into the slope if a mudslide isn’t a big concern, or I could always just use the other path that requires going up the main hill and along the ridge (will use this one when there is a house) but it’d be nice to have one that’s quicker and less steep when having larping meets with /k/ frens.
