Ok fellas, I'm going to take over a plot of city land. It only ever gets mowed occasionally. I have a cultivator and hoe to remove the weeds there and little white flags to get the specific area surveyed (I don't want to hit a utility line). I also have chalk in case I decide to get the whole thing surveyed as I have also wanted to plant native plants there (its a pretty big plot of land). I currently have 3 sunflower seedlings I plan to plant there to absorb the pollution, this city has high lead soil levels. Would it still be safe to eat the sunflower seeds?
My plans are to grow heirloom dent corn to make great corn foods and piss off anyone who decides to steal a cob. I will also grow zucchini because I eat it a lot. I will grow a random type of bean but only for nitrogen. Apparently this is called the 3 sisters.
Is there any extra steps you recommend for this process?
