>>2580451Not sure if you are in Western Canada, but the tribes of the PNW and BC used fish traps like these to passively catch fish from streams and creeks for food. They are not hard to make, deer and fish can provide more than enough food in combination with foraged and gardened crops.
They will not notice or care if you plant or pick up and re-plant native plants by the creek or watered areas, let alone harvest food from them like the animals do.
In fact, planting certain crops improves the land for hunting and fishing, helping the environment.
Look up plants and wildlife that are edible in the area, for gathering, and then you can move and re-plant some of those near your shelter to make a quick wild garden.
These plants can also conceal the entrance to your shelter.
