Nothing crazy but something that's puzzling me from a day trip today.
>biked out to a small local mountain via some empty logging roads
>a guy BRRRRing around on a dirt bike in the distance but otherwise nobody around
>circling around the mountain to find a trail up
>find a little trail, ride along it no problem
>pass a memorable landmark (an old wakeboard somebody's dumped here or something, there wasn't any other trash around but people do dump shit in this neck of the woods). nothing strange about this, didn't even think twice about it at the time but it'll be relevant later
>trail ends but a game trail leads up the mountain (pic related) so I ditch my bike in the grass and head up
>about 200 meters up the game trail I decide not to go all the way up the mountain, already kind of tired from biking around
>just relax for an hour or so, chill out in the shade, enjoying the quiet
>head back down, get on bike, pedaling out
>reach the landmark and am surprised to find the trail blocked by a fallen tree
>no idea how it happened. didn't see anything, didn't HEAR anything (this was maybe 250-300 meters from where I was just chilling out for the past hour)
>not even a dead tree, the leaves were green and everything
Nothing came of it though, I just picked up my bike and hopped over it then biked the rest of the way around the mountain then home. I was a weirded out at the time, but now looking back there's no way I'd have missed the sound of a LIVING tree just suddenly crashing onto my way out on a quiet day like that. I'm always keeping my ear out for sounds in the bush as it is to maybe spot wildlife, but there was nothing but the birds and the breeze the whole time. Makes me a little hesitant to head back now that I'm thinking about it, even over something as small and dumb as "duhh didn't hear tree fall down".
