>We're looking at doing several 2/3 day hikesThe Ceahlau might actually be too small for that then. You can hike across it in its entirety in pretty much one 2-3 day hike, and it's kinda way out there from any other notable mountain range with a modicum of tourist infrastructure.
Neither me nor my dad have been to Cozia NP. Looks like a good bet though. With a maximum altitude of 1700m it's not alpine, but it's very close to the Cindrel, the Fagaras and the Parang for a change of scenery or another shot at snow.
