If you cant build then you dont want to live in the woods enough. Also if you cant there is always the finance option on one of the aforementioned shed. Land is expensive but you cant look for land on a paved road. There everything is already subdivided and you will be harassed by neighbors and so called authorities. Look for land sold by logging companies or hunters. Its usually about 2k an acre depending on the lot size. Now you need to pay attention to zoning but most of the land will be campable. Buy the land, have it subdivided for a future second build or tent set up and you can now be off grid camping between your locations. Some places have laws that say you must move a certain amount of miles between camping. You may need to buy a bit more land of the same qualities a county away. From there you do your second set up. I advise trying a large canvas tent or yurt.
