>>1003755>I always thought fish traps were huge, bulky, established things that would be part of a permanent homestead kind of thing.Some are but you can get the small colapsable ones for around $20 and the are lite and will catch a fair amount of small fish. You can then eat the fish meat and use the heads and guts to bait the fish trap AND set a body grip trap (pic related) for coons. Coons and other small mammals that you trap are higher in calories and provide fur and leather.

Tie a small hook on the end of your line then put a split wieght about 2- 3 inches above it and a bobber 6-8 inches above that. Bait the hook with a pinch of live worm and cast out and wait for the bobber to go under. If 5 mins go by with no bite cast to a different spot. If you still have nothing after 30 minutes move a ways away and try again.
