i prefer using a homemade slingshot.
a piece of plywood + theraband gold + old piece of leather + .50 lead balls
will serve you well.
with some youtube howto videos and half an hour of practice you will be able to take down anything up to cat size.

Doublelayer Theraband Gold 25mm x 300mm. 12mm Lead balls.
14mm marbles and 10mm steel for practice.
