Gar I hooked last weekend was on 10lb, some good sized sneks have been landed on that, and I pulled out one of my biggest peacocks (not huge by any means, but fought hard and came out with a huge pile of weeds and muck) on 10lb braid. Just make sure the line is in good condition.
