I have been looking at starting a homestead in the ozark area in southern Missouri, but after talking to one of my professors she said to be cautious of the area because one of her friends did a similar thing but discovered that the ground water was severly contaminated and gravely affected the crops they grew. Can someone here please provide me with a source that would map out areas of the state with ground water contamination or other even recomend other unknown negetive variables that would effect my goal of building this?
