I was looking into overland vehicle with mild off roading, little more than fire roads and some river crossings. I would love to get outback but awd is not 4wd, and I live close to a beach. I am currently looking into 1999 trooper and 97 montero and even looked at XJ. Iread through countless threads but to me it seems like fanboism rather than cold hard facts. I wanted to buy Toyota, but the premium on the is unrealistic to me.
tl;dr What /out/ vehicle would you recommend? Ohh I live in Houston and plan on going to Alaska, so I guess a vehicle that could make the journey with out too many repairs.
