I tend to do this with my kukri's to reduce glancing blows and for peace of mind. I find the meme curve a little difficult because I sharpen freehand on benchstones. You'll also find that kukri's generally have poor cutting geometry. That being said, there's a lot of variation in kukri design. The shape has been adapted to a variety of uses, not only innawoods.
