The only reason it gets attention at all is due to the overwhelming self centered presence of Europeans on the internet. I have been up the entire length of the North American cordillera (Mexico to AK), a distance most Europeans never travel. Hell even Americans that only travel one state to the next cover the same distance as traversing 3-5 western European countries.
