I had this mindset years ago too, I would hear all the time about people using lures and getting decent fish and thought they were lying fucks because I lost over $200 worth of lures due to snags and never caught shit. Started actually lure fishing flicking them out over and over for hours and finally got results. It's hit and miss but it's a fucking amazing feeling to flick a lure out on the first cast and have something smash it. The way I see it, fish will stumble upon and smash your lure just like your bait if they are in the right area. Don't know what part of the earth you are from but any Perch species will go for anything if they sense it.

You bet, Murray Cod, the larger ones at least, are notorious for straightening out split rings and hooks, they fight for a bit but give up near the end and use their sheer weight to try and wreck your shit. Callop put up a hell of a fight too, and are greedy as fuck, pic related.
