>>97668>Yukon GoldThose are awesome for french fries. I made some crinkle cut fries from them a week or so ago (posted this pic on /ck/) and they were godly. The normal potatoes from the store can't even compare (small red and Idaho).
I'm about to plant 80lbs of Yukon Gold in my gardens this week/today.
Pic is mine, cut using a "crinkle cutter", and twice fried. Once fried for 5 mins at 320F then fried again until golden at 380F.
These are one of those potatoes that have so much flavor that you actually don't need to season them and you can instantly tell the difference.
>>98879It mostly about choosing the correct cultivar. "Squash vine borer" is your worst enemy. The moth will lay the egg on the vine before the fruit ever sets usually. If you find a hole in the vine, use a wire and try to yank the worm out if you can. They only lay eggs in part of the year, so if you get past that you are good to go. Opossums like to try to eat at least one pumpkin, but usually just end up scaring them. You can wrap them in panty hose to help keep them pretty as they grow.
