I wear dark ages turnshoes (european moccasins) and I have worn moccasins.
They get wet easily, so you have to not step in puddles or wet long grass and wear thick wool socks so your feet don't get cold.
They are good for hunting since you can feel the earth and you are silent and the shoes I have have got pretty thick soles (so i can walk over thorns, jagged rocks, etc without any worry).
They're much lighter.
I prefer them to heavy boots and would wear them anytime but you need to prepare your feet for them. If it's your first time wearing them and you try to climb mountains then your feet will be sore.
