>440 shitmetalEhh, I think that some of them may actually have good steel, especially if you spend $30-$40. I know the one anon bought the $8 Izula knockoff and I believe it was supposed to be D2. He said the steel wasn't quite as great as a $150 D2 knife from a meme brand, but also said that it is definitely better than 440 and similar metals even from good brands. So my guess is that they do use good steels on the more expensive ones but might not have the best heat treating process.
Where do you think most of the steel comes from that your snowflake knifes use? Lots of these knockoffs from $25 to $50 claim to have D2 and S30V and I wouldn't doubt if it was true. It doesn't cost much to stamp some metal, sharpen it, bake it, and screw a handle on. Especially when you are (barely) paying Chinese kids to do it.
