>>2639620Thanks fren. No, British Elwell axes have not been made for many moons now. I found it discarded with a snapped handle and rust-coated blade many years ago. I've re-handled it twice to this point. Great steel, holds an edge well.
I'm not sure what the modern equivalent would be. Maybe Hultafors standard line would be equivalent (pic rel), though I cannot attest to their steel quality because I have never tried them. They seem pretty similar otherwise. Maybe worth a try.
