They eat and grow all year round and get bigger. Up north they pretty much go stagnant for months, so they only really grow in the summer. The northern bass live longer though, they can live like 15yrs while the ones in the south might die of old age at 9-10 years.
Bass fishing in FL is fun though, 2lb bass are pretty good in the upper midwest but down here and in TX and shit, you can land 5lb+ guys from little ponds. FL bass go deep a lot of the year tho from the heat, down here it seems like the pre-spawn bite is mid-Jan into Feb
