For some reason when I bottom fish with bait for catfish, I only catch small to medium blue cats. But every time I catch a giant blue or flathead catfish it's on small bass lures and spoons. This defies logic. Am I doing something wrong? I usually set it up like a carolina rig, sometimes I make it fancy with a bobber to suspend it but not much else. This is the Potomac River, btw.
