Only by non venomous snakes. I like picking up black rat snakes or water snakes because they are usually surprisingly calm when handled. They might take a swipe or two right when you handle them but they usually calm down after that. Water snakes have an anti-coagulant in their saliva so if they do happen to bite you you'll bleed like a pig

The only one I've ever seen in the wild. Went hunting on abandoned property and they had a pond with a dock that was falling apart. There was a huge mess of sticks and brush caught under the dock and there had to be over 10 cottonmouths resting in the branches. It was incredible
