The mics are fairly sensitive but not world-class quality. Also, like any cardioid mics, they have a relatively weak low frequency response until you get very close (when they suddenly have an ugly over-exaggerated low frequency response). Cardioids are tricky and generally best for close recording (but not too close!).
A lot can be done in editing though, in terms of boosting some of the bass and smoothing out some of the tinniness. Anything you can record within 10ft or so will sound fairly natural though.
