That way you can at least find the good spots, learn what fish are in there, see what other people are using, and get comfortable with casting and hook sets and knots and all that shit.
When you git gud at that, you can think about lures. You gotta know what fish are in there before you start grabbing a ton of lures.
When you want to start throwing some lures, pic related would be a good starting place. From left to right, you have jigheads and soft plastics, Rapala-type stick baits, and inline spinners (Rooster Tail, Mepps). Those three baits you can find in all sorts of sizes and colors to target any type of predator fish. They are also fairly easy to use and hook fish with.
