>>2850412a tall heel will send a shockwave up your knee and back causing long term issues. I've been in wildland fire for over a decade and talk to people in need of major surgery before their 30s.
More of them switch to polyurethane (foam) boots then the traditional welted that I see no reason to recommend welted boots unless you can minimize the heel. You don't even need the heel in a lot of cases because the extra height in them isn't more rubber but just an empty space to cut down on weight. Even if you want a bit of a lift, get something like Jim Green and throw in an insole to fill it out so you have more shock absorption then hitting hard material.
picrel is a picture of a vibram montagna inside to demonstrate that you're not getting extra durability out of a big heeled outsole.
As I said earlier just go with one of Jim Greens Anatomx if you wanted a welted boot as you will get both an anatomical boot and one without unnecessary heel or weight.
With that being said i'd still go with a cup sole or something else like the Vibram Magna Esc since I get much better natural movement out of those then welted boots.
