i would recomend a "proven" work dog kind of breed, as said by others already. but it all depends on what kind of stuff you are doing. But you are picking a mate for a long time, pick the one where there is the right spirit in it. most dogs should be able to handle the "twice a year daddy does his wired caping trip" stuff.
