I have a bit of a varied history with flashlights. I'm not in the military or law enforcement and not experience with SAR or anything like that. I'm just a random punter who has owned various flashlights and headlamps and stuff over the years. Some of them are fantastic but with big drawbacks, others aren't so great but I cope with them for a few years to avoid wasting money on a dud.
Anyway, my most recent flashlight purchase (which I bought to replace my Maglite Mini™ which was failing because Maglite is really cheap crap now) was pic related. $30 Energizer flashlight. Not a single bell or whistle, solid, heavy, tight threading and quality control that embarrasses my last Maglite, and beautiful bright 400lm quality of light. Hi, lo, flash. That's it. Now, this flashlight might not last me forever, or maybe it will, but all I really want and need in a flashlight is this or one just like it. I'm convinced that out of all the gearfaggotries endemic on /out/ expensive and fantsy flashlights are the most impotent.
>headlamps also have their time and place as well but I digress
