>>1279910>motocross bikes that are street legalMX bikes really suck for highway use. They're not geared for it, you'll be rebuilding the engine constantly. Look for a 4-stroke enduro/woods bike. Something with a little milder cam, maybe a little less compression, and wider ratio transmission. You'll be MUCH happier on something like that for trails/street vs. on a motocross bike built for the race track.

If you're looking for serious adventuring, you're stepping up into either "adventure" or "sport touring" bikes, which have a lot more options for storage (hard cases or soft bags, tank bags, etc). Downside with these is you lose some of the dirt performance - won't be able to push as hard on technical trails, but if that's what you're after, stick with a smaller enduro "dirt bike style" dualsport rather than the adventure/touring dualsport.
