If you haven't got a 4x4 you'll have to stay in a campground or go home while I've driven down the river, setup camp, cooking snags and got the beers chilling in the river by 7pm ready to settle in and get up again at first light and drive out for work in the morning.
4x4's open up those kinds of options for a quick bash into a secluded spot in the woods with all your gear anyday of the week, I keep my gear in a tray in the ute so I can go whenever I feel like it, any day of the week.
Go for a tramp and setup your hammock and billy if you want but I guarantee you sleep in your bed at home every time
