If you have established beds without high clay content (1/2 clay or higher) then they should work well. If you want to break ground or work in higher clay bearing soils then you may need a gas powered one. The depth you are tilling at will play a role as well. 2" deep electric tillers seem pretty easy to use in good soils. Those look like a dream for prepping beds.
