>>1326186Very nice, I like CPM-3v, like neck knives, and want a BRK.
>>1326638>>1326709I own an Al Mar, an Eagle HD Talon with a laminated ZPD-189 blade, the blue was a Cutlery Shoppe exclusive. Pic related.
I really like it as a supper light EDC, but I don't know if I would recommend it... Kind of a love it or hate it thing. It's not a hard use knife, I don't know how strong it is, but it does not instill a sense of heavy dutyness. And it's well made, but not really $200 well made. To be fair Al Mar shines more with their more traditional ones, the ones with brass and micarta or bone. The price of mine is in the laminated 64hrc ZPD blade, not the handle.
Speaking of the blade, it's pretty much only good for stabby stabby, it sucks a cutting, I'm amazed just how thick they made the edge of such a thin blade. It took a LOT of work to thin the bevel down to 17dps, and polish that 64hrc blade for me, and even still I'm not quite happy yet.
I would recommend going with the flat grind, not the talon, as sexy as it is.
So in closing; Al Mar is the Alfa Romao of the knife world. They are stupid, expensive, and not particularly good, but you should own one, and it's hard not to love it. I plan on getting one of the Honey Bone Eagles one day.
