>>517160Thats actually an excellent idea, thank you very much for the for the input. However, I am not very familiar with tarps, and I will need both my trekking poles to get the LHG pitched. from what I figured from the maps, pictures and aerial views I saw so far the region is mostly treeless, except for the low grounds, which I have been told to avoid because of midges. How would you pitch the tarp with no poles spare in an area like pic related?
On a side note, my main concern with cooking inside the LHG in foul weather is that I prefer to use my Kovea spider, which is vestibule only because of the low profile (would melt to the ground within seconds). I could however bring my canister top stove and solve that one.
Since I got my gear complete I guess best is to build my packs, check the weight and then decide. Story on this is I got a Gregory Palisade 80 for the heavy stuff and a ÜLA Catalyst for my lighter outings. On the one hand I got back problems right now and on the other hand I got myself into real troubles (twice) with being not really prepared for a difficult trek, so I'm a bit paranoid about making the decision. Also, I don't know anyone with first hand experience on northern Scotland.
