Long, brutal, dark winters, most the country is a buggy mess in the summer. Land is actually much more expensive than it probably should be given the population density, and the agricultural value of the land here. Also, Canada is a massive city-state in effect. The urbanites of the GTA largely decide the political fate of the entire country.

Firearms, agricultural regulations, self defense laws, and property rights, are getting really bad in Canada these days, and those are critical to rural life.
Honestly if I could go anywhere I'd probably move somewhere in rural Montana or the Dakota's or something like that.
