Tobacco has captivated the west since Columbus set foot in Cuba in 1492. And that entails all of the pastimes and achievements of western civilization since 1492, including hiking and other /out/ activities. It’s why the stereotypical images of a ship captain, a fisherman, a hiker, a professor, SNOWMEN for fuck’s sake, etc. all include a pipe. Marijuana has nowhere near that status. It may sometime in the future, but as of now it doesn’t.
