Tanacetum Vulgare
Uses: Traditionally, weak cold leaf tea was used for dyspepsia, flatulence, jaundice, worms, suppressed menses, weak kidneys; externally, as a wash for swelling, tumor, inflammation; spray or inhaled of tea for sore throats. Experiments have confirmed antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antiseptic, and diuretic activity. A recent study found that components of the aerial parts, particularly parthenolide, have potent activity against herpes simplex virus by interfering with virus replication. Leaves insecticidal and may repel ticks.
