Bow Length
I live in an area where there's tons of tight brush. Maneuvering through the brush while hunting is a pain with a longer bow of any kind. I don't camp or use a tree stand when I hunt. I prefer to walk and stalk game instead.
My current bow is a old compound from the 1990s and is 38" from spool to spool (cost $50 second hand). It has a draw weight of 45lbs and works really well. However, newer compound bows are around 31" from spool to spool. They are also far out of my price range.
I'm looking for a recurve bow that is as short as possible, but is at least 45lbs or draw. I'd prefer one that doesn't have a rest that makes you use one side of the other only. I'm ambidextrous and I dislike only using one side. When I bring an arrow up, I don't want to have to bring the arrow up and over the entire bow just to place it in the rest that is on the wrong side half the time. In fact I'm fine with resting the arrow on my hand like I did with my long bow eons ago.
Any suggestions on brands or links to good DIY designs? Turkish composite perhaps?
