There's days I get to fuck off, ride dirt bikes, and get paid for it.
There's 11 hour days I freeze my dick off 80ft up a tower and nothing's going right, with a 3+ hour drive back home.
Other times I get a call for an incident, to run dispatch or monitor critical infrastructure for a day, get a few hours of sleep in the truck/firehouse/jail cell, and do it all again the next day.
Owning the business means I can generally pick the work I want to do, or make the paycheck worth it. The gov stuff doesn't pay all that well (don't have the negotiating power there that I have on commercial contracts) but the incidents can be interesting and there's always stories, good and bad, that come out of those.
