I appreciate the robust ankle support when I'm out in the Mojave hiking through the hills and lava fields, but even so, 8" boots are a bit excessive. The fit also tends to chafe my toes after a while, and as I'm sure is apparent when looking at them, they don't breathe as well as I'd like.
