>>2287671>something like a dyneema cuben pack that lasts 10-20x less time outdoors, has to be babied and will go onto a landfill because the fabric can't be easily sewn?In my experience Dyneema is extremely easy to sew, easier than the nylons and cordura I’ve worked with because it holds a crease well, but you don’t even need to sew it, it can be bonded together with Dyneema tape or even hot bonded to make a seamless connection.
>pic rel is my DCF pouches I sewedIt lasts longer than equivalent weight nylon or poly because it’s stronger, and doesn’t require any coating to ever be reapplied to remain waterproof like a sil or pu fabric does eventually, because it doesn’t use any coatings.
If you’re worried about abrasion, that’s why DCF exists with a poly face layer.
Challenge Ultra like Palante uses is also waterproof without using any coatings, and has high denier as well if that’s what your into.
Personally, I’m not crawling around on the ground with my pack like a military or hunting pack would be subjected to, so high denier isn’t that important to me for hiking. 150D is more than enough for a hiking pack imo, heck most tent bottoms are only 30 or 40D
